“Tetris” the movie?!
(Undated) — Get ready for it. Makers of the classic shape shifting video game “Tetris” are reportedly laying the ground work for a “Tetris” movie. Threshold Entertainment has teamed up with the Tetris Company to develop a live-action film based on the game. Threshold’s CEO Larry Kasanoff tells the “Wall Street Journal” it’s going to be a “very big, epic sci-fi movie.” Kasanoff also promises that it won’t be a movie about a “bunch of lines running around the page,” like the play of the actual game which has players creating straight horizontal lines out of falling geometric shapes.
He doesn’t give much else in the way of what the movie will be about except to say “What you see in ‘Tetris’ is the teeny tip of an iceberg that has intergalactic significance.” “Tetris” was first released in 1984 and quickly became a gaming sensation.
