A Live-Action Tetris Movie is Actually Happening

Do you have fond memories of the live-action adaptations of your favorite childhood pastimes, like Battleship and G.I. Joe? No, neither do I. But you'll never guess what mega-hit brand is due next for a bizarre Hollywood film that (probably) has nothing to do with the original product: Tetris. That's right, Tetris, the game of lining up blocks into rows, is getting a live-action theatrical release.

The Tetris film is going to be an "epic sci-fi movie" by Threshold Entertainment, the makers of the Mortal Kombat movies. There are no directors or actors on board the project, yet, but Threshold CEO Larry Kasanoff is looking forward to it with great optimism.

“It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie. This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes. Brands are the new stars of Hollywood. We have a story behind 'Tetris' which makes it a much more imaginative thing. We certainly have the canvas for location-based entertainment based on the epicness. What you [will] see in ‘Tetris’ is the teeny tip of an iceberg that has intergalactic significance" — Larry Kasanoff

As long as it's as memorable as "Complete History of the Soviet Union," I'm game. What do you think of the idea of the Tetris movie?
